The Experts in online investigation and social media intelligence

Current Vacancies

Full Stack Engineer

Birmingham, UK

NetWatch Global provides clients with actionable intelligence from public data sources with a heavy emphasis on social media. We’re an investigation company changing the way organisations solve difficult problems, and you’ll work to build tools that empower our intelligence analysts to deliver exceptional results.

We are a relatively small tight knit company, driven by innovation and a passion for what we do. We aren’t a sprawling beast with layers of red tape, if we have an idea – we think and act fast to see if we can make it happen. You will be integral to this philosophy, and its essential you can move and act to prototype quickly.

The Role

We’re looking for someone who can take an idea and instinctively know where to find the data needed, collect it, aggregate it and display it in a meaningful and visually appealing way. You will be given clear objectives and will need to work solo, and with relatively little guidance, to build something from scratch.

As an engineer you will own the code and won’t be separated from the build by layers of management, you’ll be responsible for writing maintainable code and testing in an automated fashion. You’ll also have a good instinct for UX and design.

Experience & Technologies

You will understand at least one object-oriented programming language, such as Python, along with Javascript and additional frameworks such as react or angular. You’ll also need a good knowledge of HTML and CSS for the frontend components. Ideally, you’ll be familiar with multiple programming languages and be able to pick others up where necessary.

The role would probably suit someone has worked as a consultant or freelancing for a period of time, and therefore experienced with being handed open ended specs and turning it around quickly. Or alternatively someone who has worked as part of a small team and looking for a step up in terms of responsibility and autonomy.

Ideally, we’re looking for someone with 3+ years of experience doing something relevant (for example building a web app, social media widget, or similar. We would also prefer a local candidate.

We have a casual working environment in a dog friendly office based in Digbeth, Birmingham. We work hard but do like to have fun too. Since start up in 2013 we have grown to revenues of over £1m in 2017 and are now looking to seriously ramp up our growth. Ideally we would prefer candidates based locally, but are willing to consider experienced and well qualified remote employees.
